Over 15,000 Romanian Cos Suspended Activity In Jul, Annual Toll Reaches 95,000

Over 15,000 Romanian companies suspended their activity in July, bringing the number of companies that suspended their activity to 95,279 since the beginning of 2009, a number 11 times higher than the one registered in the similar interval of the previous year, according to the Trade Registry (ONRC)

The number of voluntary dissolutions has also increased five times in the first seven months of the year, to 13,031, while in July there were 4,100 companies who resorted to this measure.

The most of companies suspended were in Bucharest, namely 14,898 (2,371 in July), followed by the counties Cluj, with 5,799 (854 in July) and Brasov, with 4,630 (553 in July). As for dissolutions, most of them were reported in Bucharest, namely 3,156, while in Bihor there were 825 companies dissolved.

In the same interval, voluntary removals from the registry grew from 7,969 to 22,621, while the number of authorized individual registrations grew by 33.36%, from 26,850 to 35,807.

Most removals, 2,275 were registered in Bucharest, followed by Prahova county, with 1,297.

The total number of legally active commercial entities was 1.046 million at the end of July, where 332,115 are authorized individuals, and 714,755 are legal entities.
