Basescu said the Romanian authorities would set priorities in the agriculture sector until October this year, adding the experts in the field are already working on a plan meant to develop this sector.

Furthermore, Basescu pointed out the agriculture sector needs a medium-term strategy to provide food for Romania’s 22 million people, as well as a long-term strategy, by developing the country’s farming potential, in order to provide food for another 60 million people in Europe or on another continent.

In addition, the head of state said the world would face a food crisis in the future, considering that the world population is on upward trend.
