“Constantin Buturuga and Florin Drehluta were transported to the Regional Medical Center in Ramstein, Germany, for additional medical investigation and special treatment, but their state of health is stable,” the ministry said in a statement.
Two Romanian soldiers were injured Friday night during an insurgent attack on their military base, 60 kilometers northeast of Qualat, Afghanistan.
Romanians Constantin Buturuga and Florin Drehluta, part of Romanian Battalion 280 Maneuver which started its mission in Afghanistan in July this year, have leg injuries, but their state of health is good, the Defense Ministry said Saturday.
The injured received medical care at the military base in Qalat, southern Afghanistan, and flown by helicopter to Kandahar for further medical tests and treatment.
Currently, Romania has nearly 1,050 soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, particularly in Zabul province.
