Romanian President Signs Decrees Appointing Interim Democrat Liberal Ministers

The presidency said in a press release that Basescu signed the decrees revoking the social democrat ministers who resigned Thursday.

Prime Minister Emil Boc will take over the Education Ministry for the time being and the other democrat liberal ministers will be nominated interim ministers of the portfolios which previously belonged to the social democrats.

Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu will be interim head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Economy Minister Adriean Videanu will run the Health Ministry.

Transport Minister Radu Berceanu will take over the Agriculture Ministry.

Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea will be in charge of the Labor Ministry.

Communications Minister Gabriel Sandu will be the interim minister for SMEs.

Youth and sports minister Luminita Placinta will be in charge of the Ministry for the Relation with the Parliament.

Boc said the interim period will last 45 days maximum and the justice minister will keep his position as independent minister within the cabinet.

The Government met Thursday evening for the first time after the social democrats left the ruling coalition. The meeting was also attended by the democrat liberal ministers and secretaries of state appointed at the ministries previously run by the social democrats.
