Romania Ctrl Bk Sets ’11 Inflation Target At 3%, From 3.5% In ‘10

Romania’s central bank has set the annual inflation target at 3% in 2011, with a one percentage point variation band, down from the 3.5% rate targeted in 2010, the bank said in a flash note Tuesday.

It said the inflation target will be discussed at a subsequent government meeting.

The central bank’s Board has analyzed and approved the quarterly inflation report, which is due for release on November 6.

The central bank set a 3.5% inflation target for 2009, with one percentage point variation band. Back in August, the bank estimated the annual inflation will be at 4.3% in December.

In September, the annual inflation decelerated for the seventh consecutive month to 4.94%, according to the country’s statistics institute.
