Becali pointed out that supporting Geoana in the second round of presidential elections means supporting Romania to further form and instate a new government until Christmas and thus bring things back to normal.

He stressed he is even willing to accompany Geoana countywide during the election campaign, if the case may be.

Becali also blamed incumbent President Traian Basescu for the chaos in the country and said he truly hopes Romania will have a new president on December 7.

Becali obtained 1.91% of the votes in the first round of presidential elections held on November 22.

Results of the first round of elections show Basescu in the lead with 32.44% of the votes and Geoana with 31.15%. Liberal leader Crin Antonescu got 20.02% of the votes, which he will direct to Geoana in the runoff.

Romania has been in a political gridlock since mid-October, when its democrat liberal government was ousted in a no-confidence vote in Parliament, a first in the 20 years of democracy after the fall of the communist regime.
