According to the quoted sources, Aurescu would be nominated for the foreign affairs minister position since Lucian Croitoru and Liviu Negoita included him in their proposed Government rosters.

Aurescu is currently secretary of state in charge with strategic affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the democrat liberals believe he has the expertise and notoriety required to run the ministry.

Another technocrat who could join the next Government is Lucian Croitoru, adviser to the central bank governor.

Moreover, Democratic Liberal Party secretary general Vasile Blaga said yesterday that Croitoru is best suited for the position of finance minister, in the current economic context.

In addition, the democrat liberals believe the finance minister should be able to hold the best dialogue and cooperation with the central bank, and Croitoru has a background in this institution and knows Romania’s financial realities.

Another name spoken these days among democrat liberals is Andrei Marga, seen as potential candidate for the education portfolio, while for the labor portfolio the candidate would be current secretary of state Mihai Seitan.

The next Government will have at most 14 ministries.

The format proposed by prime minister designate Liviu Negoita included the following ministries: Administration and Interior, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, Economy and Commerce, Development and Tourism, Finance, Transport and Communications, Health, Defense, Environment, Education, Research, Youth and Sports, Justice, Labor.
