A former democrat liberal senator, Vraciu was appointed National Housing Agency manager in October 2009.

According to Udrea, due to the current financial crisis the ministry cannot afford any pricey acquisitions.

Udrea wants to continue and even step up investment projects in 2010, and procurement of off-road vehicles is not one of the ministry’s priorities.

„In this context, stepping up ANL home building for youths entails reducing the Agency’s administrative expenses,” Udrea said.

The National Housing Agency launched on January 6 the procedure to procure three off-road vehicles for an estimated EUR124,000. The procurement procedure was cancelled on January 13 and the money will be redistributed and directed to other investment priorities.

The National Housing Agency is controlled by the Regional Development and Tourism Ministry.

Udrea told MEDIAFAX recently she plans to build about 100,000 ANL homes for youths over the next three years.

About 25,000 apartments to be rented by youths were built within the home building program by the end 2009.
