Romania To Ask EC Approval For 13-14 State Aid Schemes

Romania will ask the European Commission’s approval for 13-14 state aid schemes, of which, three or four target to subsidize the country’s farming sector, and the schemes will be sent to the EC over the next two months, Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu said Thursday.

Vladescu also said the state aid schemes targeting to grant subsidies for the farming sector are highly necessary, considering that the European Union regulations in the field ban Romania from granting direct subsidies as of January 1, 2010.

„Direct subsidy schemes are no longer allowed as of January 1, 2010 and will be replaced with new subsidy schemes. (…) Romania has already started working on the new subsidy schemes, and three or four of them must be sent (to the European Commission -e.n.),” said Vladescu.

He also stressed that getting green light for a state aid scheme entails spotting a financing source to apply it.
