According to procedure, Lazurca’s credentials reach the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, and then Ghimpu officially approves the ambassador’s taking office.

Romania’s Foreign Minister Theodor Baconschi said Friday the Romanian authorities proposed diplomat Lazurca for Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, adding he is confident Moldova would accept him.

In April 2009, Moldova rejected Romania’s proposed ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, after expelling the previous ambassador, Filip Teodorescu, on April 7 on the backdrop of anticommunist protests that took a violent turn in the Moldovan capital.

Romanian President Traian Basescu is scheduled to go on official visit to Chisinau on January 27 and 28.
