„The new package of laws meant to reform the social protection system will target low-income people who actually need social benefits,” said Boc, who added that granting social benefits both for people holding Mercedes cars and villas and for those living in rented homes may seem a fair measure for all children, yet this is an act of social protection, in the first place,” Boc said during the government meeting on Friday.

Boc stressed social benefits, such as trousseaus for newborns, might also be granted in ratio with household incomes.

According to Boc, capping financial aid for trousseaus at certain social categories, might increase financial aid for parents to 200 lei (EUR1=RON4.1318), from the current RON150.
