Nicolaescu, a former health minister, said the 2010 budget allotted to the healthcare system will be exhausted by June.
„We found that the money allotted this year must also be used to pay overdue debts from 2009. Romanian pharmacies receive in March the money for medicines sold in June and August 2009, and some of them have already filed for bankruptcy,” Nicolaescu said.
Another problem underscored by the liberal deputy is that of vaccine producer Cantacuzino Institute. Liberals want to know why in 2009 the Health Ministry did not allot the institute the funds needed for investments to observe the plan established with the National Institute for Medicines.
Nicolaescu also criticized the decision to introduce a tax on fast-food, adding the Health Ministry’s and the Government’s only purpose is to collect money to the budget.
Nicolaescu also talked about problems targeting medicine prices and the way they influence the medicine market. He said 20% of the medicines Romania imported were re-exported to other EU member states, to the detriment of the Romanian consumers.
Nicolaescu said liberals also plan to submit a motion targeting the business environment, adding the motion might be submitted in a month, when the amendments to the Fiscal Code are presented.
