Truck Falls Off Bridge, Causes Railway Traffic Restrictions In Cernavoda, SE Romania

A truck fell off a bridge over railway tracks in Cernavoda, southeastern Romania, and trains covering the route between Bucharest and Constanta were imposed speed restrictions which will triggers delays of maximum 20 minutes, Romanian state-owned railway company CFR said Friday.

According to the Constanta traffic police, no trains were in the area when the truck transporting mineral water and heading for Constanta fell off a bridge crossing the harbor lock in Cernavoda.

The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital after firefighters had to intervene to get him out of the cabin where he had been trapped.

CFR Constanta representative Dorin Maier said railway traffic in the area has not been halted, as the truck fell over a rail track that is not functional.

CFR Constanta intervention teams are trying to remove the truck from the railway track and car traffic on national road 22C might also be temporarily affected.
