Romania Jan-Feb FDI Plunges 64.8% YY To EUR466M

Romanian foreign direct investment, or FDI, fell 64.8% on the year to EUR466 million in January-February, from EUR1.32 billion in the same period a year earlier, the central bank said Tuesday.

Equity stakes (including reinvested profit) made up for the whole FDI in the first two months of the year and covered 61.8% of the country’s current account deficit.

Romania’s current account deficit widened 64.3% to EUR754 million in January-February, from EUR459 million the year-earlier period, due to the falling surplus in the current transfers balance.
