Timisoara airport general manager Cornel Samartinean said airlines will decide which flights to operate, depending on weather conditions and activity on other European airports.
The general manager of the airport in Arad, Dan Balacel, said the airport has no passenger flights scheduled until May 1 and the airport is currently open for cargo flights.
Air traffic over Romania has been halted since Saturday afternoon, due to the approach of a volcanic ash cloud caused by an eruption in southern Iceland.
The volcanic ash cloud, whose particles could cause aircraft engines to fail and could dim visibility for pilots, sparked a ripple effect across Europe and ruined plans for business and leisure travelers around the world as most countries in northern Europe have closed their air space and numerous flights have been grounded since Thursday.
