Carrefour To Open Its First Bucharest Supermarket, A EUR500,000M Invest

Retailer Carrefour will open Wednesday its first supermarket in Bucharest and the 26th in Romania, following an investment of EUR500,000, the company said Tuesday.

The company plans to open ten other supermarkets, most of them in Bucharest, and a hypermarket in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, general manager Patrice Lespagnol told a news conference.

The average area of a Carrefour supermarket varies between 600 and 800 square meters.

In Romania, Carrefour sales rose 7.3% in the first quarter of the year to EUR269 million.

Currently, Carrefour operates 22 hypermarkets and 26 supermarkets in Romania.
