Trandafir, running on behalf of the country’s ruling Democratic Liberal Party, beat her contender at a difference of 1,215 votes.
The lawmaker seat for the 19th constituency in Bucharest, considered conservative turf because it is in a district whose mayor is a member of the opposition Conservative Party, has been vacant since February, when former party head Daniela Popa left Parliament to join the board of directors of the country’s insurance regulator.
