American Rock Group Heaven & Hell Cancel Romanian Festival Performance

Representatives of rock music festival Sonisphere in Romanian capital Bucharest said Wednesday that legendary rock group Heaven & Hell have cancelled all their summer performances including the one in Bucharest, because of lead Ronnie James Dio’s poor health.

American heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and is currently undergoing treatment. He is not feeling well enough to tour this summer, said a press release issued by the band.

The group’s performance at Bucharest’s Sonisphere festival was set for June 26.

The group has also cancelled performances in Great Britain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Romanian organizers of the Sonisphere festival will announce the replacement for Heaven & Hell as soon as possible.

Heaven & Hell is the musical project of four former Black Sabbath members.

The Romanian leg of the Sonisphere Festival, Tuborg Green Fest, will take place June 25-27. The line-up includes Metallica, Rammstein, Manowar, Slayer, Megadeth, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Volbeat, Mastodon and Stone Sour.
