The amendment sets that as observers, students will rejoice a statute similar to that of union representatives and will be entitled to countersign the minutes of managing boards’ meetings, said Education Ministry state secretary Oana Badea.

On April 12, the Romanian Government adopted a draft education law which was forwarded to the Parliament for debates with urgency.

Education committee deputies set off debates on the articles of the law on April 27 and a final vote on the draft education law was due on May 7. However, since debates on the draft law were not finalized until May 7, education committee deputies will ask the Chamber’s Standing Office to extend the deadline for the submission of the report on the draft education law.

Democrat liberal deputy Gelu Visan said the committee will resume debates on the draft education law Tuesday, May 11.
