Romania’s 2010 Estimated Unemployment Rate Up 0.5% On Year – Govt

Romania’s Government said in a document issued in May that the number of unemployed people is expected to increase to 740,000, only 31,000 more on the year, and that the unemployment rate will grow to 8.3%, a 0.5% increase on the year.

Romania’s average number of wage-earners will slightly decrease to 4.68 million in 2010, compared to last year’s 4.75 million, while the average 2010 exchange rate will be RON4.15/Euro, from RON4.23/Euro in 2009.

The data, issued by the Finance Ministry, indicated that an estimated average net wage of RON1,378 in 2010, only RON0.004 lower than last year, but the real wage drop is estimated at -3.8%, from -0.6% in 2009.

Romania’s estimated GDP this year is RON510.4 billion, down 0.1% on the year.
