The figures are well above the network leaks recorded at Enel’s units in Spain, Portugal or even on home turf in Italy. The Spanish and Portuguese branches each reported network leaks of 7.5% of the total power delivered last year, while the leaks in Italy stood at 6% of total power.

Enel’s electricity sales in Romania reached 9.59 GWh in 2009, up 23.3% on the year.

The group owns three units in Romania, namely Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia Sud, and operates a network of 93,000 kilometers serving around 2.56 million customers nationwide.

Enel Romania reported pre-tax profit of EUR154 million in 2009, up 27% from EUR121 million a year earlier, on total revenue of EUR850 million.
