„All projects in Romania were put on hold, due to the unfavorable environment in the past two years. Investments of EUR700-800 million migrated towards Albania, and others, worth EUR500 million, towards Turkey. At least half of these sums could have been invested in Romania,” Daniel Pintilie, Statkraft’s senior business developer for Romania and Southeastern Europe, told MEDIAFAX on Tuesday.

Statkraft entered the local energy market in 2007, currently developing electricity trade deals.

In 2008, Statkraft representatives said the company was interested to invest in large hydropower plants and gas thermal power plants in the Southeastern Europe, including Romania.

Moreover, at that time, the company showed interest in purchasing or upgrading large hydropower plants from Romania.

Statkraft is Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, with activities in over 20 countries.
