Romanian Dacia 1H Sales Up 18.2%, To 181,826 Units

Romanian carmaker Dacia sold 181,826 units in the first six months of this year, 18.2% more than in the same period of 2009, with 37,134 units sold in June alone, 8.6% more compared to May, French group Renault, which owns Dacia, announced on Thursday.

Dacia commercial manager Fabrice Cambolive said 19,300 units were sold in Romania.

Dacia sold the best in the first six months in France (64,000 units) and Germany (17,100 units).

Sales of passenger cars rose 15.9% to 169,430 between January and June, and by 7.1% to 34,601 in June alone. Sales of Dacia on the small commercial vehicles segment increased 61.6% to 12,396 units in the first six months, with a 35.1% increase in June.
