Romania’s pension reform, which is among the conditions the country must meet to continue getting money from an IMF-led EUR20 billion loan, ties pensions to social security contributions, which means pensions of special categories like the army, police and lawmakers, exempt from paying social security, will be reduced.

Romania’s Parliament is to reexamine the pension bill early November, at the head of state’s request.
