The Rafael & Sons Diamonds Company, established in 1970 as a manufacturer of polished loose diamonds, donated for this year’s edition of the Halloween Charity Ball, organized by local association Ovidiu Rom, an impressive 18K white gold diamond necklace worth EUR24,000. The necklace will be offered to the person who, by their donation, will support the largest number of children from impoverished families.
A pair of shoes donated by Madonna will also be auctioned off Saturday. At last year’s edition, Andreea Mihai, marketing director of Carrefour Romania, won Madonna’s Christian Dior shoes following a EUR10,000 donation. The company has returned the shoes to the Ovidiu Rom Association to be auctioned off at this year’s edition.
Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage will be special guest at this year’s edition. On November 1, Cage will start shootings in Romania for ‘Ghost Rider’ Sequel: Spirit of Vengeance”.
The Halloween Charity Ball, a fundraiser in its sixth year, has provided support for the programs of the Ovidiu Rom Association since 2005, thanks to the involvement of over 60 companies and hundreds of volunteers.
The money raised during the event has helped over 500 poor children to register for and stay in school and assisted 300 impoverished families. Also, 400 teachers have been trained in modern educational techniques, with Ovidiu Rom programs running in over 40 schools in underprivileged communities.
