EU’s retail sales fell 0.5% in September, compared with the year-earlier month, EU’s statistics agency Eurostat said.
Among the member states for which data are available, total retail trade rose in eleven and decreased in nine. The highest increases were observed in Poland (+9.9%), Belgium (+8.5%) and Latvia (+6.1%), and the largest decreases in Spain (-4.9%), Bulgaria (-4.7%) and Slovakia (-1.8%).
Compared with August, Romanian retail sales rose 1% in September, after a 5.2% increase a month earlier.
The EU bloc noticed a 0.1% monthly fall in retail trade in September.
