Munteanu told MEDIAFAX that, according to projections for this year, the number of British tourists in Romania will remain unchanged compared to that registered in 2009, namely about 120,000 tourists.
Annual investments aimed to promote Romanian tourism on the British market in the next three years will exceed EUR1 million, said Munteanu.
The World Travel Market fair in London takes place between November 8 and November 11 and gathers over 5,000 exhibitors from 186 countries.
Romania’s tourist brand was presented last week in New York, within an event that brought together experts in the tourism industry and American journalists. It will also be presented in Vienna, Paris, Moscow and Munich by the end of the year.
Romania’s tourist brand, under the slogan „Explore the Carpathian garden”, was launched on July 29, at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. The slogan will be used to promote Romania as a tourist destination in the upcoming years.
The creation and promotion of the tourist brand, financed through European funds, is part of a new project to promote Romania’s touristic potential, for which EUR75 million is allotted until the end of 2013. The brand aims to raise Romania’s foreign profile as a tourist and, indirectly, business destination.
