The Government on Tuesday seeks lawmakers’ confidence vote to pass a long-awaited IMF-required wage law and the opposition Social Democratic Party leader Victor Ponta said after a meeting with fellow opposition leaders that the motion of no-confidence over the bill would be debated early next year.
„We must all observe the Constitution,” Boc said.
According to the Constitution, the Government may seek lawmaker’s confidence vote to adopt laws. Lawmakers have three days to submit a motion of no-confidence once the Government triggers this procedure. If the motion passes, the Government is ousted, but if the motion is rejected the respective law is adopted.
The Constitution also states a no-confidence motion is debated and put to the vote three days after it is read in the Parliament’s plenary session.
