The Romanian Foreign Ministry said 51 Romanians and five foreign citizens were picked up from Tripoli Thursday evening afternoon.

A second military aircraft is stationed in Malta and will be used to evacuate foreign citizens from Libya Friday.

The Romanian Government on Wednesday approved special measures to help evacuate Romanian citizens from Libya, which is faced with social and political unrest.

Fifteen other Romanian citizens left Libya aboard a Polish flight and arrived in Romania Thursday night. Romania has so far repatriated about 180 of its 500 citizens living in Libya.
