Romania Expects Scorching Heat Tuesday, Wednesday, Heavy Rain, Storms Wednesday, Thursday

Romanian weather authorities have revised and extended a yellow code advisory expecting temperatures of 35-38 degrees Celsius in the south and east of the country Tuesday, followed by torrential rain and thunderstorms countrywide Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the advisory issued by the National Meteorology Administration, the weather will be hot from Tuesday at noon until Wednesday around 6 p.m., with temperatures of 35 degrees in the south and east regions and 37-38 degrees along the Danube river and in the southern Baragan plain. Excessive heat will also affect the western part of the country on Tuesday.

The heat index, which combines air temperature and relative humidity to determine the felt air temperature, will exceed the critical threshold of 80.

The weather will become unstable starting Wednesday and heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the country until threads evening. Precipitation may exceed 50 liters per square meters in some areas and hailstorms may occur, the National Meteorology Administration said on its website.
