Romania Contracted Projects Worth EUR4.5B Through Regional Operational Program

The EU-funded projects contracted by Romania through the regional operational program (POR) by the beginning of this week are worth EUR4.5 billion and exceed the budget allotted to the program, of EUR4.4 billion.

Payments made through POR stand at about EUR1 billion.

Speaking at the conference MEDIAFAX Talks About European Funds organized Thursday, POR Management Authority general manger Gabriel Friptu said 75% of the budget of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has already been contracted.

Referring to Romanian authorities’ decision to reduce state pre-financing ceiling for EU-funded projects, Friptu pointed out that the decision might impact local authorities with low budgets.
