Bian is accused of taking bribes amounting to over EUR270,000.

Prosecutors also indicted ANOFM managers Alexandra Maria Tichindelean, accused of bribe taking, and Cristache Ristea, accused of acting as accessory to bribe taking.

On October 16, the Bucharest Court upheld prosecutors’ request and Bian was placed under 29-day preventive arrest for corruption.

Following the arrest, Prime Minister Emil Boc dismissed Bian from his position of state secretary and ANOFM head.

The National Anticorruption Department said at that time it had evidence that Bian received bribe from staff of local employment agencies to allow the continuation of EU-funded projects the institutions were unfolding.
