Romanian Shrs End Up 4%, Lender Tops Chart

The Bucharest Stock Exchange’s composite index BET-C was up 4.09% on the day to 1,550.82.

The total traded value was 16.18 million lei (EUR1=RON4.2348), slightly higher than Monday’s RON13.27 million.

BET index, which tracks the most liquid ten stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, was up 3.91% on the day to 2,367.47.

The BET-FI index, which tracks the five regional investment funds SIFs, rose 4.89% on the day to 10,784.29.

BET Energy & Related Utility Index, or BET-NG, including the companies operating in energy sector and related utilities, rose by 2.29% on the day to 347.91, while BET Extented Index, or BET-XT, which tracks the most liquid 25 listed companies, including the SIFs, was up 4.32% on the day to 224.76.

Romania’s second largest bank by assets BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) was the top traded issuer on the stock exchange Tuesday. Its shares closed up 7.76% on the day at RON6.25, at a total traded value of RON4.62 million.

Romania’s state-owned pharmaceutical company Antibiotice Iasi SA (ATB.RO) was the stock exchange’s second-top traded issuer Tuesday. Its shares closed flat on the day at RON0.39, at a total traded value of RON1.62 million.

Shares of Austria’s Erste Bank (EBS.RO) closed up 0.39% on the day, at RON52, at a total traded value of RON1.31 million.

The country’s blue-chip issuer Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) saw its shares close at RON0.79, up 4.64% on the day, at a total traded value of RON1.31 million.

The shares of Romania’s dominant oil company Petrom (SNP.RO) closed up 3.38% on the day at RON0.15, at a total traded value of RON981,285.
