Romanian Govt To Up Only Very Low Wages This Year, Freeze The Rest

Romanian public sector employees will get wage raises this year only if their salaries are very low, while wages that are above the average wage per economy will be frozen, Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said late Tuesday.

„Those salaries that are low and very low will be increased at least by the inflation rate, under one condition: to save money where there is a surplus, where public sector employees earn more than they should. We’ll find a way to freeze the wages of those who get more than the average wage per economy, to allow the increase of low and very low wages with at least the rate of inflation,” Boc said.

He added other raises would only be granted if the country’s economy develops.
