Mayoralties, Tenants’ Associations Team Up To Upgrade Heating Sys- Romanian Minister

Mayoralties will be able to get loans for upgrade works on the heating system of buildings if tenants’ associations cannot afford to pay the necessary sums, but the money will subsequently be recovered from owners, Romania’s minister of development and public works Laszlo Borbely said Thursday.

Loans will be contracted for a period of 10 up to 20 years and the mayoralties will pay the interests.

To this end, the Parliament is to debate an amendment to the law in the field, said Borbely.

On the other hand, Borbely said that 12 red-tagged buildings had so far been upgraded, of which ten in Bucharest. Other ten buildings have already been submitted to upgrade works, under the government’s rehabilitation project, while another 40 buildings will soon benefit from such works.
