Romanian Shrs End Up, Contrary To Foreign Mkts Trend

The Bucharest Stock Exchange’s composite index BET-C was up 2.99% on the day to 1,597.16.

The total traded value was 14.12 million lei (EUR1=RON4.2329), lower than Tuesday’s RON16.18 million.

BET index, which tracks the most liquid ten stocks on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, was up 2.43% on the day to 2,425.03.

The BET-FI index, which tracks the five regional investment funds SIFs, rose 2.34% on the day to 11,036.99.

BET Energy & Related Utility Index, or BET-NG, including the companies operating in energy sector and related utilities, rose by 2.97% on the day to 358.26, while BET Extented Index, or BET-XT, which tracks the most liquid 25 listed companies, including the SIFs, was up 2.26% on the day to 229.84.

Romania’s second largest bank by assets BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) was the top traded issuer on the stock exchange Wednesday, for the second day in a row. Its shares closed up 0.80% on the day at RON6.3, at a total traded value of RON2.93 million.

Romania’s dominant oil company Petrom (SNP.RO) was the stock exchange’s second-top traded issuer Wednesday. Its shares closed up 3.27% on the day at RON0.15, at a total traded value of RON1.31 million.

Shares of regional investment fund SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) rose 1.39% on the day, at RON0.43, at a total traded value of RON1.29 million.

Romania’s second largest oil company Rompetrol Rafinare Constanta (RRC.RO), the refining unit of Romania's second-largest oil company Rompetrol Group NV, saw its shares close at RON0.03, up 7.24% on the day, at a total traded value of RON1.22 million.

The shares of the country’s blue-chip issuer Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) closed up 2.53% on the day at RON0.81, at a total traded value of RON956,986.
