The prime minister advised employers who hire illegal workers to sign labor contracts, as the new work legislation states higher fines and even criminal punishments.

Boc met with Interior Minister Traian Igas and Work Inspection representatives for talks on a program aimed to fight the black labor market.

Speaking after the meeting, the interim labor minister said the Work Inspection, the Financial Guard, the Interior Ministry and the Gendarmerie must work together to eliminate illegal jobs.

Boc said the program fighting illegal work aims to protect employees so they will benefit from pension, unemployment aid and health insurance.

The new Labor Code, which was pushed through the Parliament through a vote of confidence, will enter effect in May.
