Gherghina said the Court of Accounts identified 235,000 local administration employees who received illegal wage bonuses, while in 2009 their number increased to 400,000, adding the Court must thus retrieve EUR2 million.
Labor Ministry secretary of state Valentin Mocanu said illegal wage bonuses were granted based on certain decisions of the institutions managing salary funds, mayors or local and county councils by enforcing court rulings or collective labor contract provisions.
Mocanu said that, under the law and according to the Court of Accounts, certain collective labor contracts provisions cannot be applied for public sector employees with a special work regime and whose salaries are regulated by the country's laws.
