About 8,500 education system unionists affiliated with the Federation of Free Unions in Education (FSLI) left the Victoriei Square for the headquarters of the Education and Labor ministries, in protest over wage cuts, layoffs and the lack of reforms in the sector.

Unionists had first gathered outside the Government's headquarters to voice out their demands and dissatisfactions, calling on the Government to resign.
Labor Minister Ioan Botis invited education unionists to the ministry on Tuesday to present their demands and try to find common ground.
Meanwhile, about 1,500 unionists affiliated with education union federations FEN and Spiru Haret got together outside the Presidential Palace, demanding decent salaries and calling on authorities to stop layoffs in the sector.
