“Previously, the CASS quota was reduced, gradually, from 7% to 5.2% for the employer and to 5.5% for the employee. As unemployment is on the rise, we need to increase this share to 6-6.5% for both employer and employee. We hope to amend the law setting the contribution soon,” Nechita said in a seminar.

The shares to be paid to social health insurance by employer and employee are fixed through Law 95/2006 on health reform.

Nechita stated that this measure will provide funds which will optimally cover various health programs, compensated medicine and the ministry’s participation in a project to build 8-14 regional hospitals, in co-operation with the World Bank.
