Organizers of the Metallica concert in Bucharest and the band’s management decided to put up for sale an additional 1,500 tickets for the July 23 gig, to curb the black market sale of tickets.
Although the gig was sold out, organizers Emag!c Entertainment and Metallica’s management decided to reposition the stage, to make room for more fans on the Cotroceni stadium in Bucharest.
Starting midnight, Jun 11, organizers put up for sale 1,500 additional tickets of RON180 and RON100. Tickets may be purchased online at
www.myticket.ro and in Diverta stores. However, each order is limited to four tickets.
After the concert was officially sold-out, concert tickets started to be sold on the black market for mind-boggling prices, ushering in numerous complaints from fans.
“Ticket re-sales for huge prices is currently one of the biggest problems in the live entertainment industry worldwide and it affects artists and particularly fans,” Emag!c officials said.
One of the most beloved rock bands of all time, Metallica was formed in 1981 and has so far released eight studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, sold over 100 million records worldwide and won seven Grammies. The band is working on its ninth studio album, to be released this year.
Metallica has played Romania before, in June 1999, in Bucharest.
