Bulgarian Businessman Accused Of Corruption Sues Romania
He said Romanian authorities were not able to decide on the right court to try his case a year after his arrest and that the only certain result is that he is not allowed to leave the country.
Stanchev said in a press conference Thursday that he waits for a reply from the Romanian delegate to ECHR, who was notified of his complaint.
The Romanian official confirmed he received the notification, but said further comments would be premature at this point.
Romanian prosecutors arrested Stanchev in November last year, but later released him on condition that he would not leave Bucharest.
Prosecutors see him as the brains behind an industrial espionage network, whose goal was to obtain key documentation pertaining to the privatization of strategic industrial assets in order to win consultancy contracts.
