Adrian Georgescu Wins Best Sports Journalist Of The Year Award

The “Ioan Chirila” sports awards were presented on Monday evening at the Romanian Athenaeum and Adrian Georgescu, of Evenimentul Zilei daily, was designated the best sports journalist of the year.

At the category “the talent of the year,” the winner was Dan Ionescu. However, the name, as it was revealed during the award ceremony, is a pen name for Catalina Pitis.

Pitis will work from now on as intern within the sports department of the Evenimentul Zilei daily.

The year’s “radio sports commenter” award was presented to Catalin Carnu while Bogdan Cosmesc, from the public network TVR was named the “TV commenter of the year.”

Footballer Adrian Mutu, who did not attend the event, received the award for the “best sportsman of the year.”

The “editor of the year” award was presented to Cristian Giambasu (Gazeta Sporturilor).
