In the past two years, the local beer market fell a combined 16% from 2008 record sales, when beer volumes reached 20.2 million hectoliters.

In 2010, the beer consumption per capita dropped to 78 liter, from 81 liters in 2009 and 93 liters in 2008, according to the association data.

The Brewers of Romania Association includes brewers Bergenbier, Heineken Romania, Romaqua Goup, United Romanian Beweries and Ursus Beweries, whose 2010 investments totaled EUR51 million.
