Moldova To Expel Second Romanian Diplomat After Ambassador

Moldovan authorities declared persona non grata Ioan Gaborean, minister councilor of the Romanian Embassy to the Republic of Moldova, alongside Romanian ambassador Filip Teodorescu, according to a press release posted on the website of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.

The two diplomats are required to leave Moldova within 24 hours.

Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin had previously said during a meeting with representatives of the civil society that the Romanian ambassador was to be expelled and blamed Romania for the anticommunist street protests that are taking place in Chisinau Wednesday for the second day running.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry said it will not take similar measures regarding Moldovan diplomats in Romania.
