Sixth Baby Dies Following Bucharest Maternity Fire
Dan Enescu, manager of the Grigore Alexandrescu hospital, where the surviving newborns had been transferred, said the baby that died had severe lung and kidney problems, besides burns covering 40-50% of the body and carbon monoxide poisoning.
The other five babies are stable, the doctor said.
Prosecutors have pressed charges against several employees of the maternity hospital where the fire broke out and the nurse in charge of supervising the newborns has been arrested.
