Basescu welcomed Christian Esteve at his office where they discussed the problems faced by the auto industry and the Dacia – Renault company.
Talks included two topics of importance to the car maker: the continuation of the project at Titu (the future Renault technological center) and the status of sub-suppliers in Romania.
Basescu said the Romanian auto industry needs to be supported by Romanian authorities, including based on the conclusions of the European Council held on December 11-12.
Auto makers Ford and Renault asked for support from the Romanian state, in the form of state guarantees for EIB financing worth EUR400 million, respectively EUR100 million, government sources told MEDIAFAX Saturday.
