Romanian Leu Tempers Rise Vs Euro, Exch Rate At RON4.2062

The Romanian leu slowed down its appreciation against the euro in mid trade Friday and settle slightly below 4.21 units, while the central bank’s reference hit a new two-month low at RON4.2062.

A stronger reference rate, of RON4.1981 to the euro, was set on September 30.

Against the US dollar, the central bank’s indicative lost 0.17% on the day at RON2.7931.

The Romanian leu opened at RON4.2090/RON4.2120 against the euro, slightly down from Thursday’s closing.

Increasing euro sale orders pushed the leu back on appreciation and at around GMT1100, it traded at RON4.2060/RON4.2075 per euro.

On the money market Friday, overnight rates were at 7.61%-8.11% a year, little changed on the day.
