Thus, the number of passenger cars registered in Romania in November 2008 fell by 53.1% against the similar period a year before, to 13,712 from 29,230 at the level of the 27 member states, the auto market declined by 25.8%, to 904,500 from 1.21 million cars, the association said Tuesday.
In the first 11 months, 266,637 new cars were registered on the Romanian market, representing a 7.5% downturn, close to the European Union average.
Cumulatively from January to November, 13,788,256 new cars were registered in Europe, representing a 7.1% downturn.
Thus, on the level of the European Union, the Romanian auto market ranked 14 in November, and 12 after January-November results, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.
