Meir’s release is not final and the prosecution may appeal the ruling at the local Court of Appeals.

The court ruling releases Meir and his son, Or Meir, from preventive arrest and replaces the measure with a travel ban. The two are accused of influence peddling and accessory to influence peddling and were indicted in June 2010.

Nati Meir has been under preventive arrest since October 2009.

In a different case, the Bucharest Court in October 2010 sentenced Meir to seven years in prison for fraud. Meir also has a four-year prison sentence, also for fraud.
